Sadie settled herself into a comfortable position and placed the yearbook on her lap. Slowly, she began turning the pages, scanning each face carefully before moving on to the next. Her eyelids drooped but she was determined to finish before she went to bed.

Half asleep, she turned a page. An image floated in her mind and then receded. There was something familiar about that face—no, she shook her head. She needed to get a grip. She was looking for a girl, not a boy. When she turned the page, class three stood in a group photo. Individual images of the children spread out in lines below. As she looked at them all, a name grabbed her attention—Sadie. There it was. Now wide awake, she sat bolt upright and studied the image. A girl with blue eyes and pale blonde hair looked out from the page. Sadie Myers. It was her, it had to be. She looked about ten, a couple of years older than she did in the photo taken at the ranch. A quick calculation made her almost twenty-six years old now. Because according to the yearbook, her birthday was on the fourth of next month. Just over a week away.

Working on instinct, she quickly flicked back a few pages to the picture of the child that had caught her attention earlier. A little boy no more than eight with the same blond hair and blue eyes stared back. His name was Greg Myers. Surely he had to be her brother, or at least a cousin? Where was he, and why wasn’t he looking for her?
